De Rada

De Rada is a French/Italian Brasserie.  Among appetizers, there are fried Camembert fritters, cheese wrapped in roasted red peppers, a goat cheese terrine, and a perfectly poached egg Benedict.  The entrees include a pork cutlet (hard to find here), a steak, mozzarella and sundried tomato stuffed chicken, and several pasta choices.  The desserts (tiramisu, creme brulee, “apple pie”) and coffee are also very good.  The menu is English on one side, Albanian on the other, and there is usually at least one server who speaks good English.  Very nice interior as well as sidewalk tables.  Appetizers are about 3-5 euro; entrees from about 6-10 euro.  House wine is about 15 euro/bottle.  Great for a date night!

Price:  $$ of $$$

Walking Directions:  From the U.S. Embassy Bravo Gate, take a left to walk up the hill to the Dragodan Steps.  Descend the steps and cross over the main road (Zagrebi).  Stay straight onto UCK.  In a few hundred meters, De Rada’s maroon awning will be visible on your left hand side.  About a 10-15 minute walk.
